Biomedical Robotics

The Robotics Group is doing research on parrot-inspired companion robots for improving learning and social interaction abilities of autistic children. In this research, robotic technologies including sensing, actuation, control and human machine interface are utilized to develop a robot which is able to mimic the behaviours of a parrot. The model-rival experiments aimed to create a stimulating environment for interaction with children are then implemented to evaluate the therapeutic benefits of the robot.  The group is also interested in other robot-based assistive technologies including robotic wheel chairs.
